Taxes

It's that time of year.  Ugh!  I tried to do our taxes this year, but we sold our Bandon lot last year but the paperwork we got from the handling company was not clear.  I heard that AARP offers free tax filing assistance.  So I looked up the nearest help.  Dripping Springs or Kerrville, both about 50 miles away.  So I called the 800 number.  I told the person who answered what I was trying to do and she told me that I had better call the IRS direct and gave me the 800 number.  After a 15 minute wait, the IRS representative listened to my question and told me, "Your question is too difficult.  We don't answer those type of questions here.  You need to go to the IRS website.
So I have an appointment with H&R Block in Fredericksburg on Monday.

Roadside lunch

Sometimes a guy gets hungry even when he is in the middle of the road.
There are at least 25 baby calves that have been born in the last couple of weeks.  It is fun to see the little ones running around.

Bales

Parked across the street from the post office on Friday was this truck and trailer.  Round bales we have seen before.  The trailer was new to me.  I had to check it out.  The rancher said it made unloading a lot easier.  Pull the pin, lift the lever and the bale rolls off.  Voila !

Texas Mountain Laurel

Starting to bloom here.  Grow and look like of Lilacs.  Flowers smell like Grape Kool-Aid.

Taking a whiff is like going back to my youth.

Spring

                            Spring is getting close !  ?  !

Caracara

Saw the Caracara sitting along the back road on the ranch this morning.  A Caracara is sort of a cross between a vulture and a hawk.  Tap on the photo to enlarge it.

Austin

Went to Austin yesterday.  Went to see the LBJ Library.  Located on the campus of University of Texas.  Nice location next to Texas Stadium.   Pretty impressive building.
Three floors of displays.  Five floors of archives.  Four hours were not enough.

When we were ready to leave.  The truck would not start.  Just clicking when the key was turned.  Rats!!  I looked for jump starts on my phone.  Several miles away.  I decided to walk back to the library to see if they knew of some place nearer.  On the way there I saw two guys getting out of the University van so I asked them.  They gave me the number of the campus security.  Security provides assistance to cars parked in the University parking lots.  Five minutes later a white university vehicle shows up the gal pulls out a jump-start unit and bingo the truck started.  We were more than pleased.  Definitely, a Good Thing !   Found a nearby Interstate Battery store and drove home with two new truck batteries.
