Bonneville Dam. May 21 til now June 3,2026

Holly cow!  Where have you been. ?!?!?

Well, the 5 months at KC went by like the trucks on I-10.  We had a fabulous time.  Thoroughly enjoyed the people, the location, the volunteers and staff, and especially, giving the tours of the caverns.  I highly recommend a visit if you are near Tucson.  Also, if you are looking for a place to volunteer, consider Kartchner Caverns State Park.  You will love it there !
We left there April 13, spent three days in Yuma ( dental work in Algodones, Mexico) and headed for Oregon. Three nights on the road and parked in front of our house on night four.  Did some unloading and switching around and drive out to Bonneville Dam the next day.  It's about 50 miles from our house.
We have a windy, but, great spot on Robins Island , on the Columbia River.  Our kitchen window has a view of cruise ships and barges coming upriver.  They come right by us as they use the Bonneville Lock going up river and down river.  I love the tugs.

Settled in at Kartchner dated Dec 5, 2025. ( just found it)

We have been here at Kartchner Caverns since Saturday the  5th of December.  Got here at 3:30.  Did s hasty set up and drove into Benson in time to get on the KC float for the nighttime Christmas parade.
We have been going, going ever sense.  Loving in but tiring.  We jumped right in giving tours on our first day back in uniform.  A little rusty but I don't think visitors noticed.  It feels good to be back in the cave again.  We've already had a " movie night" on the KC big screen.  "It's a Wonderful Life" was fun to watch.  Saw details that I have missed all these years.
Archie and Nigel are doing great.  Having a Greyhound and a Yorkie mix in a fifth wheel is challenging space-wise, but it works.  The bedroom at night crowded and navigating to and from the bathroom takes some creativity but it's part of the fun.
The weather has been unseasonable, sunny, 70s, dry.  Enjoyable but winter moisture is needed in the desert.
Busy Christmas time ahead.  Hope yours is too.

Troubles?

Standish, Ca to Hawthorne, NV

It was another cold night.  32 ish. I will enjoy warmer weather if we ever find some.
S
We are halfway through our journey to Arizona.  Today was a short one, only 205 miles.  It was good to have an easy day.

Yesterday as we stopped for lunch in Alturas , I noticed that the trailer wheels were too warm.  Being cautious I stopped by Les Schwab and they jacked up the trailer and readjusted the brakes.  Thank you Schwab's for the good service.

On the Road Again

We left Canby Friday after Thanksgiving, as usual.  No snow visible anywhere along the road over Santiam Pass. Parked at the Expo Center in Redmond.  Had supper and conversation with our son Jason and Toni..  Great time!
Left Redmond at 8am . Hwy 97 to Klamath Falls is super , good road, several passing zones .  Fueled in KF at 11.  Lunch in Alturas.  Had the trailer brakes readjusted at Les Schwab because the wheels felt hot when I checked them. We have used that store several times. Schwab gives great service.
We are parked at Days End RV Park in a little town along 395 near Susanville..This Chevron is across the street.  Alturas was higher.  Why we don't buy fuel in California..  Hawthorne NV tonight.

Turkey on the front steps

A turkey has shown up on our front porch. He seems harmless.

Travels with Archie

Meet Archie, our latest family member.  He was right in May.  A very sweet boy..  We adopted him in June.  He was available because of a divorce.  He has adapted well to life with the Webers.  Quickly figured how to get into the Prius but the truck took a bit longer.  We are currently using a ramp.  We have not shown him the trailer yet.  Soon

End of October but

October is winding down.  We only have a few days of lighthouse keepers duties left.  We will turn over our position in the afternoon of November 1st.  Remember everything depends on the tides.  They won't be low enough until about 2:30 pm on the 1st.  Then we will load up the Quad drive down the path for the last time..
We will miss this place.  The views!!! The quirky house.  The views.
