Back at Battery Point

Randa and I are again volunteering at Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City CA for the month of October..  It sits on an outcropping of rock that is joined to the mainland by a short isthmus.  At low tide the site is above sea level.  At high tide it is underwater.

    It is a county park and open for visitors during daylight and when the tides permit.  The tides are constantly coming in or going out so knowledge of the local tide table is important.  We time our trips to town based on the tides.  Crossing the isthmus when the ocean occupies the space is Not an option.  If you see the gray strip at the lower left of the island, that is the pathway up to the lighthouse.
