The Super Bloom is NOW. Now is the time to take a drive in the desert. The Sonoran Desert is alive with color ! The many rains ( and snow) brought an abundant amount of moisture to the desert. The plants have responded with a brilliant show of color. Highway 60 from Superior was lined with Lupine, Glove Mallow, Brittle Bush, and many others.
We went on a short road trip today. The Orange Superbloom is awesome. Photos tomorrow
During our drive we spotted a Harris's Hawk siting on a Saguaro and I was lucky enough to get these photos. It was a great day.
Look at the abundance of buds on this Prickly Pear Cactus. The winter rains were good for the desert plants.
It's time for BTA's semi-annual plant sale Lots of business for the giftshop. As you can see there are hundreds of desert plants to choose from. If I lived down here it would be hard to resist filling the pickup box. Lots of color and variety. With the warmer weather the crowds have increased. People have discovered this place and becoming members so that they can come often. Spring is pushing hard to appear. It is teasing us with a few warm days followed by a couple of cool rainy ones.
We have been busy with school groups. I am kinda getting used to the kids but would rather be giving tours. We are ready to be done but our stint here goes through the end of April . We found out this week that we have a school group April 30 th. Darn ! So much for leaving a few days early.
