Superbloom

The Super Bloom  is NOW.  Now is the time to take a drive in the desert.  The Sonoran Desert is alive with color !  The many rains ( and snow) brought an abundant amount of moisture to the desert.  The plants have responded with a brilliant show of color.  Highway 60 from Superior was lined with Lupine, Glove Mallow, Brittle Bush, and many others.

Yesterday, Monday we took Highway 73 south out of Superior for maybe 20 miles.  The mountainsides were either yellow ( brittle bush) or orange (globe mallow).  There was color in every direction.  Mother Nature was giving us a Show !!!
The two strange looking creatures are Saguaros that did not survive last year's fires.

Hedgehogs are blooming too

Harris's Hawk

We went on a short road trip today.  The Orange Superbloom is awesome.  Photos tomorrow

During our drive we spotted a Harris's Hawk siting on a Saguaro and I was lucky enough to get these photos.  It was a great day.

Prickly Pear Beginnings

Look at the abundance of buds on this Prickly Pear Cactus.  The winter rains were good for the desert plants.

This is called an Easter Lily Cactus because it usually blooms at the right time/
